One of the things that I have been meaning to write about is why i practice yoga. Which is a huge question- and at the same time it’s not. Generally how this question is answered depends on who is doing the asking- but when it comes down to it- the bare bones of it all- is that yoga has basically saved my life- not that i don’t have TONS of work to do still and not as if I’ve “Been Saved” all cooky like- my point stands as the practice of yoga asana changed the way i approach pretty much everything.
‘Yoga’ was like this missing facet- that a ‘hole’ had been filled, that a ‘whole’ was possible- a connection to the absolute allows for expansion with stability- an action that always seemed foreign to me. This is what i found when yoga found me.
When i first started practicing asana i lived in a small town- no yoga studio of course- i had a book and a VHS tape. I had seen a lot of the poses before because my dad has a regular yoga practice. In college, and after, it seemed like i knew a lot of people who had regular meditation practice- we had all sorts of discussions that ultimately led to talking about some form of impermanence that wound its way around too eventually me having a yoga practice. You know- the book and the VHS i mentioned-
Anyhow, eventually we moved to San Francisco where i finally had access to a multitude of things to provide myself with a foundation for a practice….
The answer to my question, Why Yoga? a multitude of reasons but mainly, it’s a way of being…

I completely know what you mean when you talk about yoga saving your life. I feel like it has done the same for me. It’s affected every part of my life in the best way possible.
Thank you very much for your comment! I am sometimes taken aback at how much it really has become a part if my daily life – arranging meetings, projects, schedules around certain classes, arranging eating etc etc and so on!
Please excuse the quaintness of this message as it was Sent from my iPhone
Absolutely! It’s a different existence with yoga.
i have found that its one thing to “know” but yet another thing to acknowledge- and then, do it again! its like, i knew there was major change happening- but i was almost a bystander for some of it~ NOW (and for quite some time) it has been more like taking part.
